Star Stadium Theatre Announces Major Expansion with “The VOID” Arcade & Bowling Experience
Grand Opening Expected Early Summer
Rock Springs, WY – After nearly three decades of serving moviegoers in Sweetwater County, the Star Stadium Theatre is proud to announce a major expansion that will introduce The VOID, a new arcade, bowling and food service experience designed to bring even more entertainment options to the Rock Springs community.
The decision comes after two years of research, community feedback, and careful planning. Ownership recognized a growing demand for more local activities for families, teens, and adults alike—and saw an opportunity to give back to the community that has supported WyoMovies and the Star Cinemas for 28 years.
“After listening to our guests and watching how people use our space, it became clear that the community was asking for more to do,” said Jonathon Crawford, co-owner and general manager. “This expansion is our way of serving the needs of the people who have supported us so well, for so long.”
A Next Step into Family Entertainment
The expansion marks Star Stadium’s transition into the Family Entertainment Center (FEC) model—a concept that integrates an arcade and bowling experience with a state-of-the art movie theatre to create a family entertainment destination.
This model is already gaining traction nationwide, with several hundred theatres in other markets beginning to explore and implement similar integrations.
Project Scope & Local Investment
Construction is being led by A Pleasant Construction, which has successfully coordinated bids from numerous local subcontractors—keeping the investment rooted firmly in the Rock Springs community.
The project includes:
- Conversion of two existing auditoriums into a new arcade space with party rooms
- Repurposing of a surplus mall space into a new bowling area
- Acquisition of an additional mall space for a new food preparation area to support a more robust fast-casual menu with alcohol service.
Bowling, Arcade & Design Highlights
Star Cinemas has partnered with Brunswick Bowling to install USBC-certified string pin bowling lanes, featuring the innovative Brunswick SPARK™ system. This system brings interactive graphics and video gaming to the bowling experience. Lanes will be rented by the hour and each lane will accommodate a group of up to six players.
The arcade experience is being developed in partnership with Betson Enterprises, bringing over 40 top-quality machines ranging from classic favorites like Skee-Ball to immersive motion racing games. A full prize redemption room will feature a wide assortment of rewards for all ages.
The overall look and feel of The VOID have been designed by Iron Spur Architecture, delivering an atmosphere that is upscale, modern, and welcoming—ensuring guests of all ages feel comfortable and excited to spend time in the space.
A Personal Connection to the Community
For Crawford, the project is more than an expansion—it’s personal. “I remember playing at Aladdin’s Castle, and bowling leagues with friends at Pla-Mor while growing up,” Crawford said. “Now I’m excited to offer something like this to the community where my family is being raised.”
Looking Ahead
With construction underway, the Star Stadium is positioning itself at the forefront of modern entertainment venues—blending movies, games, food, and social experiences under one roof.
